The game works by customers collecting game pieces in the form of stickers when they buy qualifying McDonald’s products.

These can then be redeemed for a number of prizes, from McDonald’s food items to £100k in free cash.

Now Martin Lewis has revealed four top tips for boosting your chances of bagging a big winner, MoneySavingExpert reports.

Double your chances of winning by using the McDonald’s app

McDonald’s Monopoly this year, which runs until October 18, feature’s a digital game board and prize wallet.

This means you can get a “digital peel”, a type of game piece, when you scan your physical property stickers into the McDonald’s app, giving you more chance of winning.

So, essentially you’re getting a free game piece.

Sign up to the McDonald’s Rewards scheme

Through the McDonald’s Rewards scheme you get one point for every penny you spend.

Once you reach 1,500 points you can redeem your first reward.

1,500 points gets you small fries, a medium salad and more.

But if you’re signed up to the scheme you also get a code for a free bonus peel for Monopoly.

The peel is sent to the email address you set your account up with.

Look after rarely-found stickers

Because McDonald’s Monopoly works like the normal game, you have to collect properties, including stations.

But within each set of properties there is a rare or uncommon sticker.

If you find one of these, make sure you keep hold of it and it will be easier to complete the set.

Everything you need to know…

In previous years competitions, some of the rare stickers to look out for have been Mayfair (dark blue), Bond Street (green), Coventry Street (yellow), Strand (red), Malborough Street (orange), Northumberland Road (pink), Old Kent Road (brown), Euston Road (light blue) and Liverpool Street Station.

However, while these were rare in previous McDonald’s Monopoly’s, it’s not guaranteed that they will be again this time around.

Pick up unchecked or unredeemed vouchers

Just because the game has started, that doesn’t mean everyone will be playing.

So if you’re in your nearest McDonald’s restaurant, make sure you have a look around for abandoned packaging with stickers still on it.

You may be able to find some free food instant wins, an online game code, or a property you need to finish a set.

It’s worth noting some companies say you can’t do this in their Terms and Conditions, but there have been no reports of issues in previous years.

The Sun has approached McDonald’s to find out if this breaches their T’s and C’s and we’ll update this story when we know more.
