MARTIN Lewis has explained how holidaymakers can save hundreds of pounds this summer by a simple “re-book trick”.
If you notice the hotel price drops after you’ve booked and you are able to cancel for free, Martin says that you could save money by simply cancelling the original booking and rebooking at the cheaper price.

He also says it’s a good idea to use comparison sites such as Skyscanner, Kayak and TripAdvisor – and to keep checking before you go on holiday to make sure you get the best deal.
Writing in the latest edition of the MoneySavingExpert.com newsletter, the finance guru said: “If the price of your hotel has dropped and your booking allows free cancellation, simply rebook for less.”
One MoneySavingExpert reader called Alison said she saved £200 when the price dropped two days before her travel.
Most hotel providers and booking sites offer a free cancellation option for each room type, which tend to cost more than non-refundable bookings.
Martin says you’ll need to decide if paying more for free cancellation is worth it.
Meanwhile, even if you can’t cancel your booking for free, he says it’s worth weighing up the cancellation charge against how much the price has dropped – if the charge is small, you could still be saving money.
Some sites also offer price promises, meaning they will refund the difference if the price of the hotel you’ve booked drops before your stay, or you find it cheaper elsewhere.
So even if you didn’t book with free cancellation, you may still be able to get money back.
