One of the bar’s biggest fans, Piers Morgan, posted on X (formerly Twitter) and said: “I’ve just been told my favourite dark chocolate red wrapper Bounty bars have been discontinued, and this is the last one left in my dressing room stockpile.

“I’m outraged. This will cause immeasurable harm to my mental health. Please reconsider.”

Others were quick to share their pain with one fan saying: “Noooooo. Dark chocolate Bounty’s beat milk chocolate bounties hands down.

“Mars don’t do this to us.”

“It’s always been my favourite chocolate bar,” said a third shopper.

It comes after Mars temporarily “delisted” Bounty Dark back in November 2022 citing “temporary operational reasons.”

At the time a spokesperson for the supplier told Better Retailing: “Bounty Dark has been delisted, due to temporary operational reasons.

“The move is very much temporary and we look forward to bringing the SKU back in due course.”

However, it seems like the move has now been made permanent according to fans.

The Sun has also checked the major supermarkets – all of which show that the item is “unavailable” or “out of stock” online.

Only a handful of small independent sweet shops seem to still have the chocolate bar in stock.

A Mars Wrigley UK spokesperson told The Sun: “It’s true, we have temporarily had to delist Bounty Dark for operational reasons and we’re working hard to bring the product back when we can.

“However, in the meantime, Bounty fans can rest assured that their favourite coconut treat – our classic Bounty is here to stay.”

Mars has not yet confirmed when the dark chocolate bar could make a comeback.

Mars last caused a stir in November when it removed Bounty bars from some of its boxes of celebrations.

Instead additional Galaxy, Mars, Milkyway, Snickers and Teasers bars were added to 2,000 Bounty-less tubs.

The move was part of a trial to see if shoppers wanted to get rid of Bounty’s permanently.

In 2020, shoppers were fuming after finding Bounty bars were behind the doors of the Celebrations advent calendar for the first and second day.

Then, in 2021, Mars Wrigley offered to swap unwanted Bounty chocolates for a more-loved Malteser after Christmas.
