LOVE it or hate it, Marmite has launched a new product – BEER.
The company has joined forces with Camden Town Brewery to produce a Marmite Ale.
And the punchy beverage is being stocked at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Ocado, Waitrose or Morrisons from September 13.
Sophie Allan, brand manager at Marmite, said: “Marmite fans love it when we surprise them and put their favourite yeasty spread into new products, and this will be no exception.
“It’s no secret that our favourite toast-topper originates from brewer’s yeast, so we’ve simply gone full circle and put Marmite back into beer.
“Whether you’re a lover or a hater, this distinctive Camden Marmite Ale will be one your tastebuds will remember – cheers!”
Ashleigh Amos, head of brand experience and partnerships at Camden Town Brewery, said the beer packs “rich and smoky flavours” – while keeping the freshest tasting beer its Camden lovers recognise.
Since 1902, Marmite has been the nation’s most loved and hated breakfast spread.
A German scientist called Justus von Liebig found that brewer’s yeast could be concentrated, bottled and eaten.
