MARK Zuckerberg has been pictured wearing an experiment pair of Facebook goggles that “teleport you to his virtual world”.

The Facebook boss has thousands of staff working on augmented reality and VR.

And the company is pouring billions into developing the “metaverse”.

That’s a digital world where we can live, work and play – an area of which we’ve already spent time in.

Now tech mogul and Harvard drop-out Zuck has posted an image of himself wearing an unreleased headset.

He claims the headset is more realistic than current models.

But we don’t exactly know what the headset is called, or when it will arrive for the general public.

“I spent the day with the Facebook Reality Labs research team in Redmond to demo our next-generation virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence tech,” Zuckerberg said.

“This one is an early retina resolution prototype.”

The billionaire added: “The future is going to be awesome.”

Facebook’s tech boss Andrew Bosworth also posted a picture of himself wearing a far more experimental headset.

It looked like a pair of giant goggles, again presumed to be highly experimental.

“Proud of the research Michael Abrash’s team is working on at FRL-R Redmond,” said Bosworth.

“Excited to get an early look at some of the technologies that will underpin the meta verse.

“We work on several prototype headsets to prove out concepts, this is one of them. Kind of. It’s a long story.”

Facebook already offers a reasonably popular virtual reality headset.

We gave the Oculus Quest 2 a 5/5 score in our review, calling it “the first must-have virtual reality gadget”.

The company is also selling a pair of “smart glasses” with a built-in camera, created in partnership with Ray-Ban.

These Ray-Ban Stories can film everything you see, but the current version doesn’t offer AR or VR functionality yet.
