To save you effort and money, here are my best buys for the garden, plus how long it takes to set them up.
GET INTO THE SWING OF IT: Swing sets can be pricey but they are can be fun all year round, so are a good investment. Smyths Toys has a free-standing swing and seesaw set for £59.99, down from £69.99. If you have a suitable tree, you can pick up a playground-style saucer rope swing by Outsunny, on offer at manomano.co.uk for just £32.99, down from £65.99.

POOL YOUR SAVINGS: Take your paddling pool game up a level with the 10ft Summer Waves Quick Set Ring Pool which fills to half body height. You simply inflate the top ring, then the pool rises as it fills — a super-fast set-up.
It costs £49.99 at John Lewis but just £34.99 at studio.co.uk. And Aldi is selling the very similar Intex 10ft pool online for £29.99.

GO FOR GOALS: Pick up the Dunlop eight-piece, pop-up footie goals set from Home Bargains. It includes goals, ground pegs, football and pump for just £9.99. The Opti Ball set from Argos is similar but comes in at £20 — double the price.

SLIDE RULES: The slip ’n’ slide is a classic for summer. I shopped around and found the 16ft two-in-one Water Slide with Vertical Sprinkler for just £12.99, down from £39.99, with Wowcher.

KEEP your budget on track with a ride-on tractor for little ones. The John Deere version for kids aged one and up is £62.99 at Robert Dyas. But head to TK Maxx for this Ecoiffier toy which is just £24.99.
