A MAJOR supermarket has slashed the prices of its Christmas sweet treats – including Quality Street and Cadbury chocolate bars.

Happy shoppers are on cloud nine after bagging large boxes of chocolate for as little as 25p from Asda.

Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, one happy shopper said: “Asda is selling Matchmakers, After Eights and Reece’s boxes for 25p each.

“I also got a bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk for a quid and a box of Cadburys for £3.”

But that’s not all, Asda has also slashed the price of its tubs of Quality Street by half.

Shoppers can now bag a tub of Quality Street for just £2 – down from £4.

“I got 6 big tubs of Quality Street for £2 each.

“Cadbury Christmas puds for 10p each, Cadbury chocolate sticks for 30p a box and Cadbury Chunks and Crunchie bite refill packs for £1.25 – there are loads of bargains,” said another customer.

The supermarket is also giving away crate loads of vegetables free of charge.

One customer posted a photo of these crates on Facebook and said: “Not sure if this is all Asda’s but our Lowestoft store has loads of veg for free and there’s nothing wrong with it.”

“There are free pallets of carrots, parsnips, broccoli and sprouts at our local store,” said another shopper.

But remember, these products are only available while stocks last, so you might find that your closest store doesn’t have the gadget in stock.

You can find your closest Asda by using the store locator tool on the retailer’s website.

Asda supermarkets shut on Christmas Day but reopened at 9am on this morning.

Stores will close at 6pm on Boxing Day and then reopen on Tuesday, December 27 from 8am to 8pm.

From Wednesday 28 to Thursday 29, normal opening hours will resume.

Asda’s slashed its prices as millions of shoppers flock to the high street to get their hands on discounted fashion, tech, homeware and more this Boxing Day.

But shoppers heading out for the sales face chaos as strikes wreak havoc across the country.

Post-Christmas sales can be a great time to bag some end-of-year bargains and most shops take part.

And if you’re just looking to take advantage of some major savings, there are lots to choose from.

But remember to write a list in advance, and always compare prices ahead of the sale to ensure you get your coveted items for the very best price.

And just because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t always mean it’s a good deal.
