A POPULAR coffee chain found in more than thirty Tesco locations is set to shutter its doors.

Harris and Hoole, owned by Cafe Nero, will shut more than 30 locations in Tesco franchises due to the end of a contract between the two companies.

Stand alone locations will remain, and the company said they will continue to open more new stores – though they will not be in Tesco.

A representative for Cafe Nero said: “Harris + Hoole has a strong store opening and growth plan for 2023 and beyond, focused on standalone stores in locations which best appeal to our target customer market.

“Following the conclusion of our existing agreement with Tesco, both parties have decided to pursue separate strategies. The first of our new stores has already opened, with several more in the pipeline.

“We’re grateful for our partnership with Tesco and wish them well for the future.”

One former employee posted on Facebook: “I’m forever grateful for the experiences I’ve had and the lifelong friends I’ve gained.”

A loyal customer shared online: “Gutted. So much better coffee than all the other chains. What a shame!”

Harris + Hoole’s shutdown has come as coffee fans are reeling from another string of closures as Costa is shuts down more locations.

So far this year it has closed seven sites in total, with another pulling down the shutters for the last time on September 22.

One of the sites which closed will reopen after a renovation, and another branch has been relocated.

A ninth coffee shop will also close in November too.

Below we reveal the full list of Costa Coffee sites which have already shut and those which are due to close this year.
