GIN sales are badly in need of a tonic — with sales slumping by more than £100million, figures suggest.
Some major beer brands also went flat, recording losses of £150million-plus over the past 12 months.

Leading the gin decline was Gordon’s, which shed £72.8million in the year to April.
Rivals Whitley Neill, Bombay and Tanqueray shed a combined £33.9million as sales fell by 7.7 million litres.
However, booze giant Diageo pointed to “strong growth” for Gordon’s and Tanqueray’s non-alcohol lines.
The figures in The Grocer magazine showed that mid-market beer brands were also hit.
Budweiser sales were down £50million, while Stella Artois, Foster’s and Carling — all top ten brands — also lost a combined £108.2million.
Heineken, Carlsberg and Bud Light also plunged into the red, according to the Britain’s Biggest Alcohol Brands report.
The analysis suggested shoppers are migrating towards smaller continental beers, including Kronenbourg 1664 and San Miguel, which both registered sturdy growth in value and volumes.
