Gillian, 51, booted him from her Scottish home after rows.

A source said: “He was throwing money about left, right and centre. They could have ended up skint.”

His sprees left Gillian fearful nothing would be left of her share of the EuroMillions jackpot she won with first husband Adrian in 2012.

An insider told The Sun: “Brian saw Gillian as a cash machine, nothing more.

“She kept throwing money at him to try to make the marriage work.

“She’d think nothing of giving £20,000 if he asked for it.

“But no amount was ever enough and he wanted more and more.

“She probably got out in the nick of time.

“If they had kept going the way they were they could have ended up skint.

“He acts like he’s a big deal.”

Jobless Brian got a monthly allowance from his new wife after they married five years ago.

But they split recently with cracks showing in the marriage for some time, say sources.

One claimed Brian would move out after rows but return to new gifts from Gillian.

One friend said: “It was never a happy marriage from what I saw.

“Brian would move out then come back and Gillian would buy him another car.

“She was besotted.

“She just wanted the marriage to work no matter what.

“I lost count of the amount of cars she bought him.

“She must have wasted a small fortune on that alone.”

Gillian and first husband Adrian Bayford won their mega fortune in August 2012 when they were living in Haverhill, Suffolk.

The couple, who have two kids, soon moved to an estate in Cambridgeshire but divorced 15 months later.

Gillian, originally from Carnoustie, Angus, moved back to Scotland, where she now leases properties.

It’s understood she met Brian — jailed for swindling £13,500 from a Tesco store — when he was living in a rundown flat in Dundee.

He quickly became used to having piles of money.

Gillian treated him and his family to holidays, cars, watches and clothes.

He later moved into her mansion.

“Brian saw Gillian as a cash machine, nothing more

A source said: “Brian acted like he was the lottery winner.

“The cash went straight to his head and he was throwing money about left, right and centre.

“He would fly pals out to watch a football match and pay for everything.

“On top of that he would give them all spending money.

“It was important to him that everybody knew he was footing the bill.

“But he wasn’t. It was all coming from Gillian.”

The insiders said his monthly allowance was never enough as he tried to fund the extravagant lifestyle he had become used to.

One said: “Sometimes the day after he got paid he would go to Gillian and say he was skint and needed more money.

“He would tell her that she couldn’t take it with her.

“I don’t know if she ever said ‘No’ to him.

“She was probably a bit naive about what was really going on.”

BABY GIRL

The pair became parents to a girl in the 2020 Covid lockdown.

It is claimed Gillian was desperate to make Brian happy and stay together as a family.

She agreed to move from Broughty Ferry outside Dundee to Auchterarder, Perthshire, to make a fresh start, but that didn’t work.

One source said: “It’s probably hard for outsiders to get their head round what happened but Gillian was head over heels in love.

“She believed everything Brian told her.

“All she wanted was for him to be happy and she never questioned him.

“If he wanted money, he got it.

“Handing over £50,000 wasn’t a big deal for her.

“All she wanted was for her family to stay together, from what I saw.”

MONSTER PRIZE

Gillian and Adrian’s £148million windfall in 2012 was one of the biggest EuroMillions jackpots at the time, with the couple celebrating by ordering Domino’s pizza.

Their monster prize came in the same month Brian was jailed for his fraud.

He had conned thousands from Tesco by putting through fake customer refunds at a Dundee store.

He and a pal were each jailed for six months.

Brian went straight and worked renovating properties.

By 2012, Gillian was a hospital worker while Adrian plied his trade as a postman, with a second job running a music shop.

The pair spent part of their win on a sprawling £6million mansion.

But just 15 months later, in November 2013, they decided to file for divorce.

After the split, the pair were forced to share the winnings equally despite Adrian having bought the ticket that struck gold.

Gillian later told The Sun that the whirlwind of winning had cost them their marriage.

Adrian went on to be dumped four times, leaving his ego bruised and his bank balance dented.

One of his lovers, stable girl Samantha Burbidge, rejected his marriage proposal and returned to her penniless ex-boyfriend — with nearly £500,000 of gifts Adrian had lavished on her.

There was also Marta Jarosz, a former sausage factory worker, who received a £34,000 top-of-the-range Volvo V40 hatchback before breaking up with him.

If he wanted money, he got it. Handing over £50,000 wasn’t a big deal for her

Then came Lisa Kemp — a waitress who broke Adrian’s heart when she dumped him while they were on holiday.

In 2021 Adrian sold his £6million home and 189-acre estate in Cambridgeshire for a loss.

Meanwhile, Gillian’s best pal Julie Cameron claimed she was forced out of the hair salon business they started amid a row over dogs.

Sources said the friendship hit the rocks when Gillian found out Julie left her pets with a tenant in one of the tycoon’s rented pads.

SON’S BATTLE

In 2021 the Bayfords’ son Cameron, 13, was left fighting for life after a horrific quad bike accident.

He had been riding the vehicle when he was hit by a car driven by his sister Amy, 15, on the grounds of their dad’s mansion.

Cameron was put in an induced coma but made a full recovery.

Gillian and Brian wed at a luxury hotel in St Andrews in 2018.

They had been friends for a couple of years and started a romance after bumping into each other on different nights out

Referring to his conviction shortly after they wed, Gillian said: “My head is glued on.

“I don’t have a massive zip up my back.

“I’ve known from the very beginning and it doesn’t bother me.

“Everyone has a past but you can’t live in the past.

“You’ve got to move on.

“It was six years ago and he’s been punished for being silly.

“He can’t be made to suffer for the rest of his life.”

Gillian on Brian

However, she did ensure Brian signed a pre-nup so he won’t be entitled to a massive chunk of what she has left when they divorce.

Brian is now running a pub in Auchterarder and it is thought he has spent everything he got from Gillian.

The source said: “It is a really sad and tragic story.

“He had it all but he’s chucked it away.”
