NOBODY likes a streaker – when it comes to windows, that is.

You put all that effort into making them sparkle and then end up with a smeared finish.

So, what is the best way to achieve no-streak perfection?

Let the spring sunshine in with these easy tips . . .

DIRTY WORK: Before you go anywhere near a bucket of water, clean the dirt off the inside and outside frames.

Use a dry cloth or vacuum nozzle to get rid of dust and spider webs, then wipe the frames with a wet cloth.

A little washing-up liquid will help get rid of stubborn marks.

BUCKETS OF FUN: Vinegar is widely touted as a great ingredient for cleaning windows.

You can buy 500ml of DriPak pure white vinegar for £1, down from £1.50, at Wilko.

Add two tablespoons to a small bucket of warm water and wipe the panes of the glass in a circular direction.

Do one at a time, so you can buff each one to a bright finish before it dries.

Also use a dash of vinegar to tackle any mould spots on frames.

BUFF TO BRILLIANCE: To dry the windows, avoid using kitchen towel or cloths that will leave tiny fibres behind on your glass.

Instead, rub with a clean microfibre cloth for a streak-free finish.

They do not cost much and can be found in any supermarket.

Iceland has a three-pack of TidyZ microfibre cleaning cloths for £1.

Many also swear by rubbing each pane with some crumpled newspaper for sparkling glass.

ENJOY A CUPPA: It’s not time to put your feet up yet.

I’ve heard of a cleaning hack where you dip some kitchen towel in a cup of cold, black tea and wipe it over the windows before buffing with a dry soft cloth.

Tea-riffic or tea-rrible idea? You be the judge.
