As per the initial investigation report, the police received a complaint Thursday that Mr. Storz had assaulted a woman. The authorities had obtained an emergency protection order that officers were trying to serve to Mr. Storz.
Police speculated that the 49-year-old was waiting for the officers to arrive. As soon as they reach his home, he opened up the fire, leaving no chance to retaliate against the officers.
Unfortunately, three police officers lost their lives in the horrible incident. May their departed soul rest in peace.
Kentucky Police Officers Injury Details
On July 1, 2022, Lance Storz opened up a fire on six police officers when they barricade his home on Monday night. During the incident, three officers got killed, while the remaining three got injured.
The three officers who were shot dead are identified as Capt. Ralph Frasure of the Prestonsburg Police Department, Deputy William Petry of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, and a dog handler, Jacob R. Chaffins of the Prestonsburg Police Department.
The 49-year-old Storz also got injured along with other two police officers. Storz has been arrested whereas the injured officers are admitted to the hospital.
