KFC did not say which menu items were affected, or how long the disruption is expected to last.

The chain ran out of chicken in 2018 and was forced to close more than 600 branches across the UK.

At the time it blamed the lack of chicken on teething problems with new delivery firm DHL.

Recently, food chains, restaurants. pubs and retailers have been facing disruption due to a shortage of delivery drivers.

Britain has a shortage of 100,000 lorry drivers, exacerbated by the test and trace pingdemic.

In a post on Twitter KFC said: “Just a heads up that across our country, there’s been some disruption over the last few weeks – so things may be a little different when you next visit us.

“You might find some items aren’t available or our packaging might look a little different to normal.

“We know it’s not ideal, but we’re working hard to keep things running smoothly.”
