Kanye west showed up to celebrate Julia Fox’s 32nd birthday and he went allllll the way out. By which I mean he gifted her and her friends Hermès Birkin bags, which cost around $10,000 each, meaning he dropped around $50k total. Truly not sure why my friends’ boyfriends aren’t giving me presents on their birthdays, but okay!
According to Page Six, Julia, Kanye, and a bunch of Julia’s closest friends celebrated her big day at Lucien, with a source saying “Ye flew into New York City for her birthday and then is flying back to LA to finish his new album.” Another source noted that Ye and Julia were “very couple-y” at the dinner and that “He was all smiles. Her friends were also there. It was a big group.”
Julia and Kanye have been dating since January 1 (so going on just over a month) and she’s incredibly open about their relationship. Like, Julia’s given not one, but two, interviews about their vibe to Interview mag, most recently telling them “I’m so used to being fucked over in relationships, so I keep waiting for him to disappoint me, because he makes very grandiose promises, and it’s like, ‘How could he ever pull it off with all the other things he has going on?’ But he always does.”
She also talked about Ye styling her, saying “After meeting him, a couple days later, all my shit was in boxes, gone. It was so cathartic. It wasn’t like I was just packing up my old clothes, it was like I was packing up my old life. I was like making that very conscious decision to really put everything in the box. To let go of the past.”
And Black Twitter is having a field day with the video – suggesting that Julia’s only Black friend was left out of the gift giving because of the color of her skin.
According to Page Six, Julia’s birthday dinner went down at new Midtown Chinese eatery Sei Less.
“There were some girls trying to get his attention… when Julia went to the bathroom,” a source told Page Six.
Sources told the outlet the couple fled uptown “when they got a call from 2 Chainz, who was there dining with rapper Fabolous in a private dining room.”
