If you switch your current account to the Royal Bank of Scotland Reward or Select account, you can get a free £150.

The clock is ticking down on this cash reward though, and you have to open the account and switch online or via the app by 5pm today.

That leaves you with just hours left to kickstart the process, but there’s a couple more steps you’ll need to take before you can claim any kind of benefit.

Once your account is up and running you’ll need to pay in at least £1,250, and use mobile banking – it’s only then that you’ll be able to qualify for the free cash reward.

The good news is you’ve got a little longer to do this part – just make sure you complete the step by May 26 as that’s the cut off.

You’re not going to be paid right away either, but you can expect to see the £150 reward by June 24.

New and existing customers can apply, but once you make the switch over, your old account will be closed and all funds and any payments will be moved to your new Royal Bank account.

As an extra perk, Royal Bank’s Select account has no monthly fee, so you don’t have to worry about forking out once you’ve cash-in your reward either.

It’s a good idea to have a shop around and see what may suit you best.

The money mogul suggested jumping ship to First Direct which is also giving new customers £150 for using its banking services.

Meanwhile, newbies who switch to the HSBC Advance account via a specific link that the MoneySavingExpert team has shared can get £175 for taking the leap.

There’s also £125 on offer from both Halifax and Nationwide if you follow similar switching steps.

Sometimes switching offers aren’t limited to cash rewards either – one high street bank is giving new customers 100 Greggs sausage rolls if they open an account, for example.

And other consumers have put in a hard slog of constantly switching up their accounts to cash-in on the most money possible.

One savvy saver dubbed themselves a serial switcher but the extreme measure meant they managed to save away £400 a year.

But don’t get too swept up in the free incentives, you should be sure to check all the eligibility criteria before signing up.

There might be other requirements for claiming the freebie, which could leave you out of pocket or with a product that you don’t need.
