HOUSEHOLDS eligible for £150 payment to help with the cost of living have just days left to apply.
Millions of households living in council tax bands A-D have been entitled to a non-refundable £150 council tax rebate since April.

Many have already received the one-off payment, but thousands are still yet to claim the cash.
The way in which you pay your council tax bill affects how and when you’ll receive the payment, which is designed to help with rising energy bills.
Households who pay their council tax through direct debit, in most cases, should have received the rebate in cash.
These people won’t have had to apply for the rebate because everything was processed automatically.
However, if you don’t pay your council tax by direct debit and pay your bill with another payment method you’ll need to apply for the rebate if you want it in cash form.
Other councils have send eligible households Post Office vouchers to redeem the cash in branch.
Applications are required so that households can safely share their bank account details with their council – so that they can receive the rebate in cash.
A number of local authorities in England already set deadlines for when households in the area had to apply.

So far, over 40 councils have shut their applications.
Another four councils, have this week, set application deadlines for the £150 payment – and only two days remain to apply from one council.
- Huntingdonshire District Council – July 28
- Erewash Borough Council – August 31
- South Derbyshire District Council – September 21
- North Kesteven District Council – September 23
The £150 council tax rebate was first announced back in March. The former Chancellor Rishi Sunak introduced the support in a cost of living support package.

What if I don’t apply in time?
If you don’t apply in time and miss the July 31 deadlines you shouldn’t miss out – instead you’ll be given a £150 credit on your council tax account.
If you’ve had a discount applied to your bill rather than a cash payment because your missed the application deadline for your council – you could still withdraw the money.
Is there other support available if I’m not eligible?
If you don’t live in a property in council tax bands A-D but are in need of extra support to help with the rising cost of living – discretionary funding is available.
A separate £144million fund has also been launched which local councils can dish out to vulnerable and low income households. You may get up to £300 to help with your bills.
Those who already pay their council tax by direct debit should receive the payment automatically but those who don’t will be contacted by their council.
The council will, in most cases, send you a letter with a link to a secure online form where you’ll be able to share your bank details so you can receive the payment.
