CHRISTMAS is still days away but you can already bag a bargain with many sales starting well before Boxing Day.

Shops that have started their sales early include John Lewis, Next and Amazon where you’ll find up to 83% off.

Asos, H&M and Zara are among the fashion brands to slash prices too, with some shoppers queuing to get in stores in areas where shops remain open.

Non-essential shops have been forced to close their doors again in areas with Tier 4 restrictions over the crucial festive period.

Retailers are keen to get people spending with national and local lockdown restrictions from covid impacting sales this year.

At John Lewis there are already discounts across women’s, men’s and kid’s clothing, along with furniture, homeware and some Christmas items too.

John Lewis says its Winter Sale will start online on 24 December but it already has major discounts with up to 80% off.

We spotted a mens sports jacket for reduced from £125 to just £25 – a saving of £100.

And a smart winter coat for women were among the items on offer, reduced from £119 to only £35, a saving of £84 or 71% off.

Meanwhile Amazon has deals running right up until December 23.

The retail giant has last-minute deals which include 25% off a Panasonic TV, reduced from £899 to £679 – a saving of £220 and 83% off wireless headphones.

There’s also a Shark vacuum which usually costs £269.99 reduced to £149.99. That’s 44% off and a saving of £120.

Retailers are offering more sales this year but with smaller discounts, according to consultants at PWC.

Lisa Hooker, consumer markets lead at PWC, said: “We expect an increase in promotions as we head towards Christmas and into the Boxing Day sales but these are likely to be planned, targeted and not as heavily discounted as we’re used to seeing.

Our tips for finding the best deals in the festive sales

IT might be tempting to dive in and snap up LOADS of items in the Christmas sales but here’s how you can guarantee you’re getting a good deal.

PREPARE Research the items you want to buy and find out the cheapest price. Websites like PriceSpy, PriceHistory and CamelCamelCamel will give you historical data on prices so you can see how much you should pay.

GET FOLLOWING Follow your favourite shops on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and sign up to its deals newsletter to get the latest on any offers. We post the best deals in our Sun Money FB group too.

EARN CASHBACK Check websites like Quidco and TopCashback BEFORE you place your order. Cashback websites PAY you to shop. All you have to do is click through their links and the money is added to your online account, usually within 14 days.

CHECK FOR CODES Take a look at The Sun Vouchers, and see if you can get extra savings with discount codes.

“In a number of categories reports of excess stock seem to be wide of the mark, which means retailers aren’t desperate to offload overstock at margin-eroding discounts.

“This is particularly prevalent in general merchandise, which has been affected by stock delays and reported shortages. So don’t wait too long for that must have present or treat as it may sell out and never hit the sales.”

Next has a clearance across tens of thousands of items, from clothes for all the family to homeware with up to 75% off, like these Adidas trainers reduced from £75 to £32.

Meanwhile ASOS has already launched a sale of up to 70% off. In previous years it has waited until after Christmas, according to Money Saving Expert’s deals predictor.

H&M has discounts of up to 50% in the lead up to Christmas, along with River Island and M&S.

Argos launched its end of year sale last week with up to 75% of toys, homeware and baby products.

Currys has not yet launched is seasonal sale, but still has some discounts online, like these Marshall headphones which are reduced from £129 to £49 – that’s 62% off and a saving of £80.
