Jeremy Fisher is a fictional frog character who features in Beatrix Potter’s literature for children.

The English writer and illustrator was famous for children’s books including The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was published in 1901.

In 2016, The Royal Mint released a collection of 50p coins to celebrate 150 years since the birth of the writer.

As the first collection released was so popular, The Royal Mint created a second collection with more characters.

The limited edition coins feature idols from the iconic tales, and one of those is Mr. Jeremy Fisher.

The Jeremy Fisher 50p coin was first circulated in 2017, and shows the frog character wearing his famous waterproof jacket, designed by Emma Noble.

How rare is the Jeremy Fisher 50p?

Although the coin is a well-loved limited edition piece, it’s not that rare.

In total, there are 9,700,000 froggy 50ps floating, about according to coins experts Change Checker, which has ranked this coin just a one on its scarcity index.

The scarcity index is a scale from one to 100 that ranks coins based on their rarity and value.

The higher the number, the rarer the coin, meaning you’re more likely to make a mint.

In this case, the Jeremy Fisher 50p is classed as common, so you may well find one in your wallet.

But it’s commonality means you shouldn’t expect to get a lot if you decide to sell it.

How much is Jeremy Fisher 50p worth?

The Sun had a look on eBay to see how much sellers were listing their Jeremy Fisher 50ps for.

Many of them were around the £1 marker, meaning the coin is only likely to fetch twice its face value.

We saw one sell for £1.50, but it only had one bidder, so we can’t be sure the sale was legit.

Its low number of bids could also be because of the coins commonality, meaning it won’t spike a lot of interest.

Though if you have the entire Beatrix Potter collection, you could generate a much higher bidding war and see a much higher profit.

One seller has listed a collection of six Beatrix Potter coins for £40.

It’s also important to remember that buyers can pull out of the sale meaning an item won’t have sold for the amount it says it has.

Some Beatrix Potter characters are much more valuable on their own, like the Flopsy Bunny 50p.

There’s also a Beatrix Potter commemorative coin.

If you’re interested in buying some of the Beatrix Potter 50ps, The Sun explains where you can buy them.
