THOUSANDS of users worldwide claim WhatsApp is down amid a mystery outage.

Users across the globe say they’re having issues with the app and struggling to use the popular instant messaging service.

Many said it was affecting WhatsApp web and on their desktop, but that their phone app seemed to be working.

The outage started at around 6pm, according to DownDetector.

By 7.30pm more than 1,500 Brits reported having issues with the app.

Many reported the service not loading at all, while others said their app was freezing.

Some took to Twitter to try to find a solution, asking if it was “failing for everybody”.

More than 700 users in the United States were reporting issues.

A heat map showed that most Brit users reporting trouble were based in London.
