Nintendo has a raft of games players can play for free – so here’s six titles you can play with friends.

Fall Guys

The Fall Guys, rated a whopping 81 on Metacritic, lets players bounce between free-for-alls and cooperative challenges as colourful “bean”-like characters.

The PEGI 3 title is from Epic Games, the creators of fan-favourite battle royale Fortnite.

Fall Guys, released in 2022, supports cross-play, cross-platform parties and cross-progression via your Epic Games Account with up to three friends.

On game review site Metacritic, Czech magazine Level on called Fall Guys “extremely addictive and accessible fun for the entire family.”

“It is hilarious even when you are losing terribly,” the magazine added.

Also in a Metacritic review, a solo player wrote: “It is the best game ever, I am in love with the game. You will not regret the game.

“You control a little bean that runs around and the game is funny and addictive like very addictive.

“You can put on costumes on your little bean. If you grind the game like I do then it can be very fun.”

Reminiscent of Fortnite’s routine, Fall Guys stays fresh with limited time events, new game modes, news seasons with new costumes, collabs and obstacles.

Zorya: The Celestial Sisters

Zorya: The Celestial Sisters takes place in a desolate world where players choose to play as one of two sisters: Aysu, the night goddess who can summon Wind Power, or Solveig, the goddess who controls Solar Energy.

Players must work together to reunite the sisters by safely navigating the shadows to solve increasingly complex puzzles.

This award-winning cooperative puzzle game, launched in 2022, lets you invite a friend for the first five levels in the free version,

But players can have a friend join them the whole way if one of you has the DLC.

Roller Champions

This 2022 release is cross-platform compatible and lets players compete in a team of three against three.

The roller racer title is comes from the great minds at Ubisoft, the creators of Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Far Cry and Watch Dogs.

Ubisoft essentially combined rollerskating and racing to create Roller Champions.

Dauntless

Dauntless is a free-to-play online action role player game (RGPG) from Phoenix Labs.

The PEGI 12 game lets players battle for survival at the ‘edge of the world’ as a so-called Slayer.

Slayers can use the online co-op action set-up to play with up to four friends and take-down beasts called Behemoths as a team.

Dauntless receives updates, seasonal events, and new Behemoths regularly.

Guardian Tales

Guardian Tales is a wholesome multiplayer game that is perfect for fans of the 8-bit genre.

The 2022 release combines puzzle solving, strategic action combat, player v player matches, challenging bosses, and weapon collection into a cute action-adventure title.

Players can create a guild with up to four players in co-op mode with a difficulty level that adjusts to its users.

Together they can explore dungeons and battle against monsters in waves to clear the floor.

My Hero Ultra Rumble

This 2023 release is a battle royale game set in the My Hero Academia anime universe.

In My Hero Ultra Rumble, players can build a team of three mates to 3 and fight to be the last ones standing in a 24-player battle royale.

Each season bring new costumes – much like battle royale rival Fortnite.

Gamers divide themselves into five archetypes to play: Strike, Assault, Rapid, Technical, and Support – which each having their own strengths, known as Quirks.

In a review on Metacritic, TheXboxHub wrote: “MY HERO ULTRA RUMBLE exceeds expectations as an extraordinary take on the battle royale genre.

“It’s packed with many of the best heroes, and a few villains, showcasing their amazing Quirks for great, action-packed matches.”

Other players hail My Hero’s stable servers and quick play times, however, they note that a lack of solo mode is frustrating.

So, this is just one to play with pals.
