EXTRA Bank Holidays over Christmas and New Year means could mean more day with no post.

But unfortunately, that feeling might not be present during the September bank holiday.

As Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year, there’s an extra Bank Holiday on Tuesday December 27.

That’s on top of the usual Boxing Day bank holiday on Monday, December 26.

You’ve also got a Bank Holiday on January 2 following New Year’s.

As usual, there won’t be any post on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years’ Day.

But there also won’t be any deliveries or collection on December 27 and January 2 – the extra Bank Holidays.

Normal postal service will resume from January 3 for England and Wales.

Scotland has a public holiday on January 3 so post will get back to normal the following day.

However, despite services returning back to normal on these days, there could still be disruption due to planned strikes.

Members of the CWU planned seven more strikes in December, including Christmas Eve.

They follow previous walk outs on August and October in a dispute over pay and conditions.

Service could be disrupted by strikes taking place on the following dates.

Many customers have already had trouble with undelivered mail.

Earlier this month, thousands of undelivered Christmas parcels piled up amid the postal workers’ strike – leaving abandoned festive gifts to be chewed up by RATS.

Families are facing a Christmas without presents as the postal walkout has caused depots to become overwhelmed with stranded deliveries.
