Lemond has been charged in connection with a shooting that blinded a Lexington boy. The man was charged with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of wanton endangerment.
He was allegedly involved in firing the shots that struck 5-year-old Malakai Roberts and his mother, Cacy Roberts. The little boy was permanently blinded by the shot after one of the shots went through his head.

Michael Lemond has been in prison since May 28 last year on a long list of violence-related charges. Reportedly, his bond is set at $50,500 cash in those cases. However, no additional bond has been set for the new charges.
According to the officials, the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. on December 21, 2020. The shots were fired from outside the little boy, Malakai Roberts, house on Catera Trace. Malakai sustained life-threatening injuries.
The detective stated that the two accused got the wrong address and fired into the home of Malakai. He was shot in the head, leaving him permanently blind, while his mother, Lacy Roberts, was shot in the arm with the same bullet.
According to the detective, the intended target lived just next door. As stated in the arrest citations, two other people were also almost struck by the gunfire. The other man involved in the 2020 shooting was Teyo Waite.

Michael got into a heated argument with an individual, and he, along with Teyo Waite, is accused of going to what they believed was that individual’s home and shooting. The two guys had the wrong home and instead fired into the house of Malakai Roberts.
Previously, Lemond’s other shooting involved his own mother on May 23. According to the court’s record, Michael hit his mother, then shot at her during a fight. After a few days, Michael was caught by the police.
At the time, Michael fled from then, crashing into a building and hitting several vehicles on Cambridge Drive. In the May case, Micheal was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, fleeing police, five counts of wanton endangerment, and carrying a concealed weapon, among other things.
Michael Lemond Shooting Case -2022 Update
Michael Lemond’s hearing status was scheduled for Friday, however, he refused transport from jail to court for a hearing. Lemond did not appear in the court, however, his lawyer and the other man charged, Teyo Waite, and his lawyer were present.
The two men were charged in connection with the 2020 shooting. Michel and Teyo were both 18 at the time. Moreover, Michael’s next review is scheduled for September 9.
Teyo was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center. Lemond had previous criminal records of allegedly punching and firing at his own mother in May. Lemond was already locked up at the time of these new charges.
