McDonald’s Monopoly is back for six weeks

McDonald’s Monopoly was launched in 2005 and the giveaway works along similar rules to the classic Monopoly board game.

Customers can collect game pieces on qualifying McDonald’s products, including the co-ordinated road names like Mayfair and Fleet Street, just like you would in the board game.

You will find them as stickers which will appear on the packaging of whatever food or drink you buy from the chain.

Each game piece represents a tile on the Monopoly board which you can pick up for free in the restaurant or play along online – when you collect a set, you get a prize.

But can you play along if you order through a McDonald’s drive-thru? We explain all below.

Is McDonald’s Monopoly available on drive-thru?

You won’t be left out if you’re ordering via drive-thru – you will still receive products with the stickers on when using this service.

But it’s worth noting that not all menu items are equal when it comes to collecting prize pieces.

Some food and drink have up to three prices and others have non at all.

Everything you need to know…

A new double peel feature is coming to stores nationwide – meaning players can double their gameplay online through the McDonald’s app.

Just like before, you will be able to peel to reveal a Monopoly property or an Instant Win prize – you get one peel on menu items and then an extra peel in the McDonald’s app.

The fast-food app will be introducing a new digital game board and prize wallet, making winning and collecting prizes easier than before.

Here is a guide to all the menu items that come with stickers – including this years new double peel.

The maximum number of pieces you can get at once is nine.

You’ll need to choose one of the main items above in a meal and choose one of the sides and a drink, and each will come with three tokens.

Unfortunately favourites like original McNuggets and Big Macs don’t come with any pieces, and never have in McDonald’s Monopoly.

Each piece represents a tile on the Monopoly board, which you can pick up for free in the restaurant or play along online.

When you collect a set, you get a prize, and there are also “instant wins” which allow you to claim your goodies right away.

How long does McDonald’s Monopoly last?

McDonald’s Monopoly will run for six weeks, from tomorrow (Wednesday, September 7) to Wednesday, October 18.

If you win, you will have until November 15 to claim your prize.
