SOME Instagram users are reporting that a bug is blocking them from seeing direct messages.
According to reports on social media, messages sent through the Instagram app are being obscured by blank, black boxes.
It’s apparently left some people unable to read the messages sent to them by pals.
The issue was flagged by U.S. influencer and social media guru Matt Navarra on Wednesday alongside a screenshot of blocked messages.
He tweeted: “Instagram has a weird bug causing messages to be blocked out Have you had this?”
In response to the post, a number of people claimed to also be affected by the issue.

One wrote: “Yesss I have to keep my phone dark mode that’s the only way I can see the messages.”
However, others said that they were unaware of the issue and that the app appeared to be working just fine for them.
One Twitter user replied: “No, it works fine for me and my team.”
Another said: “No, it’s the first time I’ve seen it.”
It’s not yet clear what’s causing the issue or how many people may be affected.
It’s most likely the result of an unusual bug. If that’s the case, Instagram will likely patch the problem in a future update.
The Sun has reached out to Instagram for comment.
It follows a worldwide outage that took Instagram offline for hours on Wednesday.
This all comes after Instagram secretly changed its logo and added a new typeface.
