AMAZON Web Services were down on Wednesday, December 22, as thousands of frustrated users reported an outage.
Users started reporting issues on Wednesday and the platform was unavailable for use the majority of the morning, it’s the third instance in a month where Amazon crashed.

Is Amazon down today?
At the peak out of outage on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, Down Detector reported 1,443 users were having issues with Amazon.
The possible outage began at around 7:08 a.m. and has only become more widespread since 8:23 a.m., according to Down Detector.
At least 1,443 reports have been sent out from users.
During the outage, users were unable to connect to Amazon and it’s affiliated applications.
This caused issues for users who work with Slack, Amazon A to Z, and Epic Games.
As of 9:15 a.m., Amazon services have been restored to “all instances and network devices within the affected data center,” according to Amazon’s corporate team.
The team added that Amazon services were “seeing recovery for the majority of EC2 instances and EBS volumes.”
Slack reported problems such as “experiencing issues with file uploads, message editing, and other services.”
Similarly, Asana said the problems consisted of a “major outage,” with “many of our users unable to access Asana.”
Epic Games Store said “Internet services outages” are “affecting logins, library, purchases, etc.”
Was Amazon down on December 15, 2021?
This was not the first time Amazon and it’s apps were down this month.
On December 15, 2021 at 10.30am EST, hundreds of Amazon users flocked to Down Detector to report that Amazon is experiencing outages.
About 65 percent of users reported issues with the website, while 22 percent noted problems with the app.
13 percent of users reported that tier issues stemmed from checking out on the app.
Amazon has yet to discuss the outage.
According to the map on DownDetector, the bulk of the outages appear to be taking place in New York and Los Angeles.
At 5.29pm the number of reported issues had dropped drastically to 140.
The site states that 55 percent of users reported issues with Amazon’s website, 31 percent with order tracking issues, and 15 percent had issues with the app.
In a previous outage, NY Daily News reported that the issue involved the company’s US-East-1 servers, a hub for Amazon’s cloud computing platform.
Amazon announced at about 2.43pm that “it has mitigated underlying issue causing network issues and is working toward full recovery across services.”
Before the outage was controlled, however, many warehouses were forced to shut down.
People were struggling to login, access Amazon-owned websites, the Amazon app or their AWS console.

Users of Ring doorbells, Disney+ and even Tinder were said to be experiencing issues.
Reports of problems in the US started to pick up around 10:30am ET.
The problems were also affecting users in the UK and the outage was said to be worldwide.
We have reached out to Amazon for comment.
Frustrated users took to social media to complain.
One person tweeted: “Can’t listen to Amazon Music. My Ring Doorbell doesn’t work.
“Can’t control my lights with Alexa. On the upside, I’m spending a lot less on Christmas.”
Another said: “Amazon is down, this is a pain…”
One Tinder user asked: “so is tinder down? my messages are still loading.”
A few other users complained that it was taking a while for Tinder messages to load.
One Amazon customer even joked: “Amazon is DOWN worldwide! Christmas is canceled.”
