A TECH expert has issued a warning over an iPhone “battery killer” feature that may be draining your charge and suggests there’s an easy way to fix it.
The vast majority of iPhone battery issues are software related, the phone guru claims.
David Payette from Payette Forward says one of the features draining your battery is tracking.
iPhone tracks and records your location everywhere you go, which uses a lot of battery life.
Push Mail also drains your battery.
This is when your iPhone maintains a constant connection to a server so you can send and receive emails instantly.
To fix this, you’ll need to change your setting from iPhone push to fetch.
To do that, go to setting then mail then account. Tap on Fetch New Data and turn off Push at the top of the screen.
Scroll to the bottom and choose “every 15 minutes” under fetch and, if possible, tap on each individual email account and change it to fetch.
The next move to save you some battery juice is turning off unnecessary location services.

To do this, go back to Settings, find Privacy and hit Location Services, tap Share My Location.
Scroll all the way down and tap System Services and turn off everything except Emergency SOS, Find My iPhone and Motion Calibration & Distance and anything else you think is worth leaving on.
Tap Significant Locations and turn it off and go back to System Services and turn off all the switches under Product Improvement and turn on Status Bar Icon, which will make a little arrow appear next time you use your location.
Another is switching off iPhone Analytics. Head to Settings and hit Privacy and scroll down until you see Analytics & Improvements.
Turn off the switch next to Share iPhone Analytics and Share iCloud Analytics. This will stop your iPhone from automatically sending data to Apple about how you use your phone.
Closing out your apps every day or two will also help. You do this by double-clicking the Home Button or swipe up from the bottom to the centre of the screen to open the iPhone app switcher.
To close an app, use your finger to swipe up on the app and push it off the top of the screen.
Also, only turn on notification you need and turn off widgets you don’t use.
Widgets are little “mini-apps” that continuously run in the background. Over time, they drain the life of your battery. Hold down on a widget and select the remove option to get rid of them.
David also suggests turning off your phone once a week and keeping it in a cool place, so any temps between the designed work range of 32 degrees to 95 degrees fahrenheit.
Another trick is switching off Background App Refresh on apps – this will stop apps downloading new data while they’re not being used.
To do this, go to Settings, General and Background App Refresh and toggle the apps you want turned off.
David also suggests turning auto-lock on, disabling unnecessary visual effects and turning on Optimized Battery Charging.
He also says turning off 5G and turning of Dark Mode will help.
Turning on Limit Frame Rate will also save you battery power.
