IPHONE users have been warned of a major change to their privacy settings as part of Apple’s latest software update.

The new iOS 17 update was made available to iPhone users on September 18.

The update provides a sweeping upgrade of features on a number of Apple devices.

Among the many improvements is the fresh ‘Check In’ feature.

The enhanced setting allows users to share their location with friends and family.

It also sends your loved ones an automatic message to let them know you’re arrived safely.

If you are delayed, it can send information to your contact such as battery life and location.

Not all Apple devices are eligible for the upgrade, so be sure to check the list below to see if yours is on the list.

Those who do receive it will have access to brand new Contact Posters for phone calls, improvements to AirDrop and a StandBy full screen experience mode when your iPhone is charging.

But there are some important changes in the background too.

“iOS 17 is also equipped with the latest security patches, so it is vital that iOS users update their devices as soon as possible to remain best protected,” said Jake Moore, Global cybersecurity expert at ESET.

Apple has already released a list of the iPhones that are eligible for the iOS 17 update.
