Apple has revealed that a ‘special event’ will take place next month amid wild speculation over its new iPhone range.

Invitations to the tech titan’s ‘Wonderlust’ conference were released last night, with fans from across the world invited to watch at 10am PT (6pm BST) on September 12.

The event comes as countless rumours have taken the internet by storm, with leakers claiming that a new range of iPhone 15s will be unveiled on the day.

New Apple Watches and AirPods may be among the products launched too, with the event streaming from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.

‘Please join us for a special Apple Event broadcasting from Apple Park,’ the invite reads, ‘Watch it online at apple.com.’

Following the announcement, leaker Mark Gurman of Bloomberg ‘confirmed’ that iPhone 15s, a new Apple Watch and AirPods will be among the products announced at the event.

In a post on X, he wrote: ‘Apple Sept. 12 iPhone 15 is official,’ before adding: ‘Apple announces September 12 iPhone 15, new Apple Watch, and AirPods event.’

The highly anticipated iPhone 15 has been at the centre of speculation over the past few months.

Rumours suggest that a game-changing titanium alloy frame, a larger battery and an elongated mute button are just some of the features it may have.

Models may even come in a vibrant array of colours, including the fan favourite of green, crimson, pink and blue.

Meanwhile, others have claimed that a completely new iPhone ‘Ultra’ will be launched, showcasing a much larger display and impressive camera lens.

But all models will likely have a USB-C charging port in place of the usual Lightning port, as required by EU regulations.

It’s understood that both the new Apple Watches and AirPods may make use of the USB-C charging port too.

While both of these products have remained largely mysterious until now, Gurman believes that a ‘Watch 9’ may run on a ‘much more powerful chipset than the Apple Watch 8’.

Apple Watches may upgrade from using OLED to micro-LED technology as well, which would boost the product’s lifespan and make it more energy efficient.

The Wonderlust announcement has not only sparked excitement but even more rumours on social media.

One user wrote on X: ‘Innovation & Curiosity: “Wonderlust” could be Apple’s nod to groundbreaking innovations. Are we about to see tech that redefines our daily lives?’

Another added: ‘Wonderlust referring to wanderlust meaning wanting to travel might be a hint to Apple car?’

‘From the title they chose for the event, it looks like the Apple Watch Ultra Series 2 might be getting a major upgrade or iPhone 15 is getting Ultra features,’ another said.

MailOnline has approached Apple for a response to the speculation.
