What is the iPhone 13?

The iPhone 13 is the newest devices in Apple’s smartphone range.

Last year Apple introduced the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

And this is the follow-up generation: the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, the 13 Pro and Pro Max.

iPhone 13 release date – when is it out?

Apple rarely deviates from a set release schedule – and 2021 was no different.

As we expected, iPhone 13 pre-orders will become available on Friday, September 17.

And the actual release date falls on Friday, September 24.

iPhone 13 design and features

The latest iPhone comes with a sleek new design.

It has a larger battery, and both the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini have new displays with new contrast ratios and support for HDR.

These two phones are powered by new chip: the A15 Bionic, which make them faster and more efficient than ever before.

This is described by Apple as offering the fastest CPU in any smartphone… and we’re not going to argue with that.

It also boasts a 16-core Neural Engine that puts these new devices at the cutting edge of what phones are capable of.

The Ultra Wide cameras have also been upgraded, producing images that are brighter, sharper and have less noise thanks to sensors that are larger than those in the 12.

But what we’re most excited about is the Cinematic Mode that’s being added to the video function.

In its livestream, Apple wowed us with footage that looked like it had been made in a Hollywood studio – put in fact came from the iPhone 13.

The mode tracks subjects, keeps them in focus, and if subjects gaze away, the camera de-focuses – all thanks to a new series of ‘computational algorithms’.

Battery life has also been improved, with a 90 minute improvement between the iPhone 12 Mini and 13 Mini, and a hefty 2.5-hour improvement for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13.

The 13 Pro features a new, stronger build, and supports MagSafe charging.

iPhone 13 price – how much will it cost?

The iPhone 13 will cost £779, and the 13 Mini will cost £679.

The iPhone 13 Pro will come in at £949 and the 13 Pro Max at £1,049.

We’ll be adding the best contracts and plans to our iPhone 13 pre-orders page when they go live.

iPhone 13 name – will the moniker be scrapped?

No – despite the unlucky connotations, Apple has decided to go ahead with the name of iPhone 13.

Remember that this is a global product, and plenty of countries out there don’t think the number 13 is at all unlucky.
