Police called on Friday night to reports of man in ‘distress’ and used incapacitant spray, watchdog understands

A man who had earlier appeared to be in “distress” died after allegedly being restrained by police officers, sparking an investigation by the police watchdog.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation into the death of the man, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, in Hertfordshire in the early hours of Saturday morning.
