IPHONE users have been warned of the “easy and profitable” tricks scammers get up to.

Apple‘s App Store is among the safest with its tight rules on what iOS devices can download.

But even then, some criminals can slip through the net onto the App Store.

One case highlighted by app expert Kosta Eleftheriou reveals just how simple it is for cyber thieves to pull off.

And there are some signs to look out for.

Firstly, he claims they make a basic app.

Next, the bad actor buys enough fake ratings – ideally above 4.5 stars.

This way people are lured into a sense of security, thinking the app must be decent because it’s got all these good reviews.

Then the charge a monthly subscription and make it difficult to cancel the free trial.

They will also advertise heavily on social media.

Then the app doesn’t even work as described.

Apps are supposed to handle subscriptions through Apple’s own payment system.

This means you can easily cancel any subscriptions in the App Store.

Open the App Store then tap your profile photo in the top right.

Tap subscriptions.

Here you will see all the services you’re subscribed to via Apple.

Select any of them you wish to end and tap Cancel Subscription at the bottom.

Remember, if you subscribed to a service outside of the App Store on a web page, you’ll have to deal with the company that made the app directly.
