The three-bedroom houseboat is on the desirable Cheyne Walk in Chelsea, west London, where a comparable flat on dry land would set buyers back a mammoth £5m.

The boat has all the comforts of a land-based mansion, including air conditioning, underfloor heating, an alarm system and broadband.

At the front, a large terrace opens out from the drawing room where owners can enjoy the stunning water views.

Despite its exterior, the stylish and contemporary property is not short on space – totalling over 1,800 sq ft of luxury.

An open-plan kitchen on the upper deck leads to the dining and living space, with enough space to accommodate a celebrity-style bash.

Moving downstairs, the lower deck has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a master bedroom with an adjoining dressing room.

Aside from mains electricity, water, sewerage and on-deck telephone, the new buyers will also enjoy extra bonuses from its high-profile mooring.

Residents at the spot also benefit from a night watchman, round-the-clock CCTV, and on-site maintenance team.

However, these amenities come with an extra fee of around £26,000 a year.

Cheyne Walk has been home to London’s prominent celebrities for over 300 years.

The first notable residence was built by Henry VIII, who lived at the Chelsea manor house on and off with several of his six wives.

Over the years the street has been home to rocker Keith Richards, novelist George Eliot, Prime Minister David Lloyd George, author Bram Stoker, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, writers T.S. Eliot and Ian Fleming, footballer George Best and musician Mick Fleetwood – to name a few.

Mick Jagger bought a house there in the 1960s with Marianne Faithful, which he sold in the seventies, but returned to the millionaire’s row more recently after buying the former home of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

Nick Austin, from Riverhomes, who are selling the houseboat, said: “This is the celebrity area to live. The boat is called Walter Greaves because he lived there.

“Now Mick Jagger owns a house behind it, one of the owners of the Young Vic owns a house there, there’s a former Vogue editor and a dowager countess and Damien Hirst has a houseboat there.

“It’s still a working boatyard and has been for more than 1,000 years.

“This is one of very few boats that come up there and it has more than 20 years on the licence, which is very rare.

“If you turned that boat into bricks and mortar, you would be looking at £3-5m for the equivalent square footage, so by comparison this is a bargain.

“It doesn’t have an engine so you can’t go anywhere but it’s unusual quirky living and from the fore deck you have a beautiful view of south west London.

“The boat was built in 2017 and has been moored there since. Moorings just don’t come at all in that area, I sold this boat to the current owners several years ago.”
