YOUR iPhone can give you a virtual Home button – even if you don’t have a physical one anymore.
Apple scrapped the Home button years ago, leaving some fans missing the beloved feature.
Thankfully Apple has a feature called Assistive Touch.
This is an accessibility hack that gives you a simple Home button replacement.
The trick was recently shared by TikTok gadget expert @tehno_mike, who regularly shares iPhone hacks.
His clip reveals how to add a virtual Home button to your iPhone.
The Home button was first abandoned on the iPhone X back in late 2017.
It was ditched so Apple would have room to stretch the screen from corner to corner – and add a Face ID scanner.
This meant Apple could fit more display on a device with the same physical measurements.
It meant that many common iPhone gestures changed forever.

And Apple has stuck with this no-button design for many iPhone models since – although the Home button does appear on the iPhone SE range.
How to add virtual Home button on iPhone
The feature is called Assistive Touch, and it’s built into your iPhone by default.
“When you turn on AssistiveTouch, you’ll see a button appear on screen,” Apple explains.
“You can drag it to any edge of the screen, where it will stay until you move it again.
“By default, tapping the button once will open the AssistiveTouch menu.
“Tapping once anywhere outside of the menu will close it.”
To turn it on, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch.
Now choose Assistive Touch to turn it on.
You could also say “Hey Siri, turn on Assistive Touch” out loud.
It’s possible to use this feature to quickly access lots of gestures and settings on the iPhone.
And it’s customisable, so you can change how Assistive Touch works at any time.
