Lindsay Edwards says the best days to get bargains at TK Maxx can save you cash

TK Maxx runs roughly 350 stores in the UK, offering everything from belts to sunglasses, underwear to plants, so there’s plenty to save on.

Lindsay said its branches regularly receive new stock throughout the week, but get their biggest delivery on a Friday.

So, if you’re wanting the biggest pool of products to pick from, that day is your best bet.

However, if you want to maximise your chances of getting the cheapest prices, you’ll want to head down on a Thursday.

Lindsay explained: “On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, they complete several rounds of moving stock into clearance.

“Therefore, Thursday is when you’ll get the greatest savings, whereas Friday is the best day to visit if you want to be one of the first to find the new items in store.

Retailers often launch clearance sales to get rid of excess stock or if they’re closing down, and TK Maxx is no different.

You can pick up clearance items in-store as well as online.

We checked some of the items online at the time of writing, and found a pair of Zara patterned women’s trousers selling for £6 instead of £17 – a 74% discount.

Meanwhile, there was a pair of black Levi trainers selling for £22 instead of £55 – a 60% discount.

When it comes to in-store, Lindsay said you can find any number of clearance items on a Thursday for under £1, including belts, sunglasses and jewellery.

Meanwhile, you’ll find beauty products including shampoo and cosmetics for under a quid too.

Not just that, but you can get picture frames, plants, bowls, cups, birthday cards and gift bags for similar rock bottom prices.

Lindsay added getting to your nearest store when it opens will further guarantee the chance of picking up a bargain on a Thursday.

If you don’t know where your nearest TK Maxx store is, you can use its store finder online.

You just have to type in your postcode or town and it will bring up your nearest one.

Always remember though, a bargain isn’t a bargain unless you wanted to buy it in the first place.

More ways to save at TK Maxx

It’s not just about heading down to your nearest TK Maxx at the right time – there’s other ways to save money too.

The retailer prides itself on offering up to 60% off on thousands of products, but you can save yourself some extra cash by signing up to the email newsletter, Lindsay said.

By doing this, you’ll get early previews of any sales as well as access to designer flash sales.

Plus, the retailer will let you know when new stock is coming in.

You can sign up on the TK Maxx website – you just have to enter your email address and you’ll start receiving them.

Lindsay added: “Don’t forget to browse their website too as they have hundreds of items online which you can filter to search ‘from lowest price’.”

On top of this, you’ll want to shop “Gold Label” if you have a bit more in your budget – this is a section found in some physical stores but always online.

There, you can find discounts on high end designer items such as Versace, Stella McCartney, Moschino, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors.

We had a look online at the time of writing and found a Missoni wool scarf selling for £40 instead of £400 – a whopping 90% off.

There was also a Nina Ricci blouse selling for £200 instead of £1,680 and a Givenchy men’s tie for £32 instead of £83.

You’ll want to snap these types of items up fast though, as they tend to sell quickly, Lindsey said.
