A MUM has shared her top tip on how you can save €1,000 and all you need is a Pringles box.
Caz Mooney, 34, revealed her simple hack that followers are keen to try.
The mum, who posts under @irishbudgeting, took to TikTok to reveal how easy it is to save €1,000.
She said: “I got given this great hack from follower.”
She reveals a Pringles box and cuts a slit in the lid.
The budget mum then begins to fill it with €2 coins.
Caz said: “Apparently if you fill this with €2 coins it becomes €1,000.
“Let me know if you give it a try.”
The mum-of-three suggested taping the lid so you aren’t tempted to dip into the fund.
And followers were keen to give it a try for themselves.
One person said: “Heard this hack many years ago from a financial advisor.”
While another said: “I’ve just started this two weeks ago, tempted to count it but I won’t, I taped the lid.”
One person joked: “I need a hack on how to have a spare €2.”
HOW TO START BUDGETING
In another recent video, the blogger explained how to get started with budgeting.
Caz said: “Budgeting does not need to be complicated, it is merely a plan for your money.
First she suggested tracking your monthly expenditure.
She said: “You’re going to get started by first looking at where your money went last month, track your spending for last month and categorize each costs to see whether it is a food, if it is diesel, if it is fun, take-outs – whatever it is categorise and list them.”
Caz said: “Then you’re going to look at each category and see if there is any categories you think that you are overspending in.”
MONTHLY SAVINGS
She then suggests creating a plan for the month.
She said: “So this month, you are going to decide what you would like to spend in each category you’ve looked at last month.
“And now this month, there’s going to be some categories you want to reduce.”
The budget blogger advises making small cuts.
She said: “If you want to reduce your food shop by €50 this month, you are going to create a new budget with €50 less in your food category, but you don’t want to restrict yourself too much.
“So if you need to reduce these categories slowly do so.”
And then most importantly decide where the extra money will go.
Caz added: “Then any savings you make you should be putting towards a goal.”
