The Canadian landlord, who goes by @niccunningham686, told his followers of the unique situation he found himself in.

The TikTok creator wrote: “I AM A LANDLORD I was once asked by my Tennant’s if I would reduce the rent by 20% for one year so they could save for a down payment on their own home.”

In a generous turn of events, he explained: “I agreed and they now own a lovely house all of their own, and we are very happy that we were part of their success.”

Cunningham, who describes himself online as a “welshman” with “Canada style” humour, often shares his experiences as a landlord, including advice for fellow proprietors.

In another video, he writes: “If you treat tenants with value, they respect you right back. If you take care of them they take care of the property.”

His adorable story of reducing his tenants rent has garnered a lot of attention online, with the video receiving over 413K likes and thousands of comments.

“Why can’t more landlords be like this,” a user wrote in response.

“Just when you’re ready to give up on humanity tiktok shows me there’s still good ppl out there,” another added.

A third said: “Good on you! I’m sure they are forever grateful” and another wrote: “The world needs more of your type of realness.”

Other TikTokers also rushed to the comments to share stories of their experiences with kind landlords.

One wrote: “My landlord gives me free rent in December for Christmas so I can spend money on my kids!”

“While my pop pop was fighting cancer his landlord let them get behind on rent as long as he needed. there are some few kind souls left,” another added.

Meanwhile, other landlord-tenant relationships have not turned out nearly as well.

One horrified landlord was left with a whopping £16,000 bill after a tenant from hell left the home full of poo and maggots.

“This kind of destructive behaviour makes landlords not want to continue to advertise property in market for rent as the emotional and physical cost to fix is too much,” the furious woman wrote in response to her tenants mess.

Elsewhere, another appalled landlord revealed the “disgusting” mess slobby tenants left her flat in, describing it as a “warzone of rubbish”.

She was forced to get them kicked out for not paying rent for nine months.
