KELLOGG’S has ditched Frosties from its cereal variety packs — because they are too sugary.

It has been replaced by more boxes of either Coco Pops and Corn Flakes to make the product “healthier”.

But one Morrisons shopper said: “It’s hardly the definition of ‘variety’.”

Paul Jenkins, of consultancy ThePackHub, also criticised the move, saying: “It’s a children’s product and kids will miss it.”

Frosties — famous for its cartoon mascot Tony the Tiger — contains 37g of sugar per 100g.

That is more than twice the sugar in Coco Pops and four times more than in Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies.

Their removal means variety packs can now be classed as non-HFSS (high in fat, sugar or salt) and can be sold in prime spots in supermarkets — in line with government legislation on tackling obesity.

Kellogg’s said the change was made as the firm is “committed to helping people make healthier choices”.

The price of sugar is at a ten-year high of £1.06 a kilo due to crop failures and higher costs, according to the Retail Price Index.
