One of the many challenging aspects of a divorce or separation can be figuring out how to create a new bedroom (or two) for the children after one parent moves to a new place. The transition to a new home and possibly new community can be hard for everyone, particularly children. We want to hear from parents and other guardians who have gone through this.

How did you create an inviting space for your kid(s) and make the move as painless as possible? What did you put in the new room? Were your children involved in the process? What items — a special toy, a chair, a picture — did they want in the space? What do you think parents just beginning to go through this process should know?

Please answer the questions below, and a Times editor may be in touch. We hope to publish a selection of the responses.

We won’t publish any part of your submission without contacting you first.
