ICELAND is planning to open four more convenience stores this year.

The frozen food retailer is expanding its Swift store format following a successful trial.

The new stores opening in 2022 will take the total number of Iceland convenience stores to five.

It had already opened a pilot store in Newcastle in 2021.

The branches opening this year will be in London, The Mirror reported.

Iceland hasn’t yet confirmed where in the capital they will be or when they will launch.

Iceland’s Swift stores sell a full range of store cupboard essentials as well as chilled and fresh food.

It stocks frozen food but with less of a focus on that than Iceland’s standard stores.

Shoppers will also be able to buy ready-to-eat foods and alcohol and tobacco.

There are currently around 500 Iceland branches and 153 Food Warehouse stores in the UK.

The grocer also announced a big change to its loyalty scheme earlier this year.

Shoppers can now access exclusive savings and get up to 50% off their favourite frozen foods when shopping online.

Iceland launched its Bonus Card scheme in April 2021, but it was previously only available in store.

It rewards users for saving money for their shop and gives them access to exclusive discounts.

You are given cashback each time you load money onto the card, rewarding shoppers for putting money aside for their food shop.
