A WOMAN who won £83,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery has revealed how she plans on spending her winnings.

Susan Dodds, 66, was only looking to win enough money to help her repaint her stairs after they were left untouched for 40 years but now she’s got much bigger plans.

The lucky lady shared a £1m jackpot on the Postcode Lottery with 10 of her neighbours in Whitley Bay, after the NE25 8RX address won the weekly Millionaire Street prize on Saturday, January 13.

Susan – a mum-of-three – is now looking to get herself a brand new, fully equipped kitchen and a trip of a lifetime to go see her kids.

The retired hospital worker and foster mum said: “I thought the prize was going to be about £1,000 and I would get my staircase painted.

“I thought I could get that sorted and it would still leave me with a few pounds to do some other things with.

“But when I saw the amount, I thought I can get a new kitchen and paint the staircase. I’ve been thinking about a kitchen for a long, long time. I’ve been here for 40 years.”

After Susan took home an £83,333 cheque she decided to look into going on two mega trips to Dubai and Australia for a very sentimental reason.

Her son James, 43, lives in Dubai, and her 42-year-old daughter Angela Julian has been in Perth, Australia for some years now.

The grandmother-of-three went on to say: “It would be lovely if I could go and see them and it’s now worth having a look into.

“I’d like to help my children. I would love to be able to say to them ‘there you go’.”

Susan revealed her bumper winnings to James through her webcam doorbell despite him being 4,700 miles away.

She added: “I thought this was going to be a little prize. I’m gobsmacked. I can’t believe it. I think I’m dreaming.

“It’s a big shock, but a nice shock. Other than having kids, this is the next best day of my life.”

She decided to do the Postcode Lottery so she could support local charities and have a chance at winning a nice prize.

On the same street, Paul Rendles, 64, and his wife Elaine, 64, both scooped up double the prize with a whopping £166,666.

When Paul found out he won, he said: “Oh my God! Wow! Fantastic! I nearly swore there. Wonderful. I didn’t expect that. Dreams do come true.

“Our daughter’s social worker won the Postcode Lottery a few years ago. When he told me, I said ‘right, I’m going to get a ticket today’ and I’ve done it ever since. Then I decided to get two tickets.”

Now the delighted former foster parents are planning to help their three children and three grandchildren – as well as treating themselves to a Mediterranean break.

He continued: “This is absolutely brilliant. We’ll be able to help the family out. But there has to be a holiday, too.”

Paul is going to buy himself a private car registration, a new flashy watch and his daughter a brand new iPhone 15 Pro.

The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £12-a-month to play with guaranteed winners picked every day.

More than £1.2billion has been raised since the concept started and thousands of charities and local good causes have benefited.

Prizes include an impressive blockbuster £1million every Saturday and £30,000 on Sundays with a top multi-million-pound prize draw once a month.

It comes after an OAP secured £333,000 on the Postcode Lottery but was told she would only take home a third because of an age-old pact.

And in Birmingham, a great gran-of-five bagged £111,111 as part of a £1m win amongst her and eight neighbours.
