A GREAT grandmother who scooped £330,000 on People’s Postcode Lottery has revealed why she won’t use the cash to take a holiday.
Thelma Lewis signed up for the popular lottery draw after her two daughters started playing four years ago.
The lucky 81-year-old struck gold when she won the jackpot for Postcode Lottery‘s weekly Millionaire Street prize on September 23.
However, Thelma’s first thought after being hit with the news was to look after her family rather than jet away to a holiday hotspot.
“I want to help the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren,” she said.
“I might like a holiday, but I haven’t got a man to go with me and I don’t want to go on my own.”
In fact, a previous agreement between Thelma, her daughters and one of their sisters-in-law has meant they will split the prize.
“We said if anyone had a small win, they would just keep it. But if it was a big win we’d share it between the four of us,” she said.
“But we never thought we’d have all the threes.
“This is a shock, but it has brought sunshine into our lives.”

Despite Thelma’s resistance to go on a getaway without a man in tow, her daughter Kay is keen to splash out on a trip they can all enjoy.
“We might all go on a cruise together to celebrate,” she said.
Thelma’s win came after a Welsh man scooped the jackpot.
Barry White was left stunned when his partner revealed his £333,333 cheque on a WhatsApp video call.
Weeks earlier, former dinner lady Jackie Caule said her “life changing” win meant she was finally able to afford the getaway of her dreams.
“Hopefully a lovely holiday too. I was thinking Spain but with the amount I’ve just received it might be a cruise,” she said.
