The 28-year-old used the last £1.50 in her online lottery account to enter the draw and buy two tickets.

After hearing the incredible news, the shocked winner could be heard giggling on the phone.

Overwhelmed, Charlotte couldn’t hold in uncontrollable giggles and said: “I’m a bit giddy sorry, I think I’m going to cry”, in between laughter.

Speaking to Camelot about the life-changing phone call five years ago, Charlotte said: “I can still vividly remember that moment, I just couldn’t stop giggling.

“Obviously it was the nerves but I think it was coupled with shocked disbelief, only two weeks earlier I had wound my husband up that we’d won £250,000 so to suddenly be calling The National Lottery to officially claim £1M was just crazy.

“It’s great to hear my call again, it takes me right back to the beginning of our amazing winning adventure.”

Charlotte explained that while the couple still work, they have splashed the cash on a new house.

The humble lotto player said they “could only ever have dreamt of” their home before the win.

And, with the extra space, they’ve been able to welcome two Labrador pups, Missy and Millie.

This comes as other lottery winners have shocked listeners with their reactions.

A man who won an eye-watering £76million lotto jackpot surprised the public with his very British reponse.

Humble builder Andy Clark, 51, scooped the life-changing prize in a EuroMillions draw after his niece begged him to check his ticket.

After looking at his winning numbers, back in December 2018, Andy rang Camelot and the conversation sparked disbelief across the nation.

The 51-year-old from Boston, Lincolnshire, told the phone operator: “Hello there mate, I think I’ve won a few quid so I phoned.”

To which the lotto staff member laughed and replied: “Okay, so you’ve won £76million.”

Andy casually batted off the news and simply said: “Yeah.”

“You’re the person with the ticket,” responded the phone operator in disbelief at the builder’s calm reaction.

The operator then says: “Wow, what an amount of money. The exact amount was £76,369,806.80.”
