A MAN was left gobsmacked after being slapped with a £2,000 British Gas bill as well as a potential charge of £21,000 for the year.
The customer was shocked after seeing the cost of his bill and shared a picture of it to Twitter.

The man uploaded a screenshot to the social media platform which showed a first monthly payment of £1,954 and a total projected cost of £21,494 over 11 months.
In his tweet, he comically asked the energy supplier : “Are my new energy increase prices covering the whole of f***ing Bolton?”
After his eye-watering bill, other people jumped into the comments to share their equally ridiculous invoices.
One user shared a screenshot of a bill he had in January which put his monthly payments to British Gas at a staggering £7024.
Another quipped that she was paying to “cover the South Yorkshire area” after receiving a chunky direct debit bill from Eon for £5,361 a month.
As a result of the crazy bills, some began to panic that their costs would soon start to skyrocket, but suppliers say there is nothing to worry about as these are likely wrongly calculated bills.
Something as simple as the customer making an error inputting the meter readings could cause the issue.
When customers transfer from failed suppliers they may also have incorrect bills due to issues getting their correct usage data from the old supplier which can also lead to miscalculations.

A British Gas spokesperson said: “British Gas has contacted the customer to ask for the customer’s details so it can help resolve this issue but has had no reply.”
Energy bills are set to rise in April after the energy price cap rises by 54 per cent – adding an extra £693 onto the average annual bill.
Global demand for gas is higher than usual as the world comes out of successive lockdowns and businesses try to make up for lost time.
This is worsened by the fact that gas production is lower and the weather was less windy over the summer which caused more gas to be burned for electricity.
Electricity bills are also set to rise as around 40 per cent of the UK’s electrical needs are being met by burning gas at power stations.
