CLEANING the bathroom is probably not high on your list of favourite household chores.
The shower can be painstaking to scrub and it’s no surprise given how much grime, hard water, soap scum, mould and mildew can build up over time.
But cleaning your glass shower doors will help keep the entire bathroom looking fresh and clean.
It’s just a case of finding the right spray.
We asked mum-of-three Lynsey Hope, 41, from West Malling, Kent, to try out some best-sellers and rate her favourites:
Method Daily Shower Non-Toxic Surface Cleaner
- £4, waitrose.com
Lynsey says: “This is SO easy to use. All you do is spritz a mist of spray on all surfaces as you are getting out of the shower each day.
“No sponges, cloths or scrubbing required – all you need is your trigger finger!
“It did a great job of bringing the shower door up sparkling clean as well as the fixtures and tiles.

“It had a lovely, light and fresh aroma and was lovely in comparison to some others, which wreaked of chemicals.
“It’s also a great eco-choice. The bottles are made using recycled ones, it’s non-toxic and biodegradable.
“However, there is no getting away from the price.
“At four times the price of most own brand alternatives, not many of us will be adding this to our shopping list.”

“You don’t need to rinse, wipe or scrub and just walk away for easy cleaning.
“It did a great job of preventing water marks and it stopped limescale building up on the shower if used after each shower.

“It did an excellent job of keeping shower doors streak free and suitable for use on plastic and glass screens, curtains, trays and tiles.
“Spray from 20cm after showering.
“The only issue was getting to the liquid at the bottom of the bottle – the straw bit wasn’t long enough – so it was a bit of a faff getting the last bit out.”

“It even got rid of some mould in the top corner of the shower which I’ve struggled to get rid of with other, more expensive products.
“It did require a quick wipe after spraying for best results otherwise it could be a bit patchy, but overall I was very happy with this.”

Lynsey says: “This seemed very strong and chemically. Not sure it did a great job of cleaning the shower either.
“I had to wipe down the shower door after use and it didn’t do a lot to stop limescale building up.
“Lidl’s W5 cleaning range has generally had rave reviews for the price, but I’d leave this one on the shelf.”

Mr Muscle Shower Shine
- £2, asda.com

“It did a great job of removing limescale, despite living in a very hard water area.
“It has a nice scent and left all surfaces nice and clean.”

“It did a good job of keeping the shower nice and clean. No streaks left afterwards at all.
“It also did a great job of preventing build-up of mildew and soap scum.
“It is pricey though – the most expensive in our test – and less in the bottle than most which would put me off buying it again.”
