Lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, these small and tow-able suitcases should fit into a plane’s overhead lockers so you can grab it and head straight out of the airport.
You can pick one up for less than £12 at some stores.
But the last thing you want on holiday is one with dodgy wheels that is hard to pull or a stiff handle.
Lynsey Hope, 42, from West Malling, Kent, tried out some budget-friendly cabin luggage options and here she reveals her favourites.
It’s worth noting that cabin bag size rules can vary between airlines, so check who you’re travelling with and what’s allowed before you jet off.

This Home Bargains luggage looked pretty good considering the price – it was the cheapest I tried.
But it was pretty flimsy.

It didn’t stand up by itself and falls over every time you need to put it down.
If you can, I’d say it’s worth spending a little more money on something that will last a bit longer.
It is mega light if weight is an issue and can hold quite a lot.

Very easy to manoeuvre, I loved this super stylish M&S case.
It’s a lovely colour and fitted perfectly in an overhead locker.
I managed to pack loads in.
This is sturdy, built to last and excellent value for money.

I ordered this from Amazon in rose red and it’s more like hot pink, but I did like the bright colour.
It’s light as a feather and I was surprised to see it was actually 3.1kg – something you’ll need to bare in mind when looking at your airline allowance and how much you need to pack.
The lock function is easy to use and it was easy to wheel and manage.
It was just as good as more expensive cases.

Dunelm’s cabin bag was a gorgeous design and a great price – but I’m not convinced this is built to last.
The handles feel flimsy and the zip kept getting stuck.
We all know baggage handlers can throw cases about, I would be surprised if this lasted more than a couple of trips.
It’s a shame it isn’t sturdier as it’s a lovely, elegant design.

Argos It Luggage World’s Lightest 4 Wheel Soft Cabin Suitcase

The fabric of this case from Argos makes it super lightweight and it is deceptively strong.
There is plenty of space for clothes and the wide handle design helps to keep clothes crease-free.
I loved the front zipped pockets and this comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.
I did struggle a bit with the retractable handle, which was sometimes a bit difficult to pull up.
It was pricier than others in our test, too, and actually I preferred two of the cheaper ones.

Ryman Showkoo Soft Cabin Spinner

Ryman’s luggage was lightweight and durable, this is made from a high-density and water resistant fabric to keep your good safe.
The wheels very were easy to manoeuvre and I liked the soft grip handle, which was easy to pull.
It’s lined with a zipped divider and has an in-built combination lock for extra security.
This is a stylish design and a nice colour.
