ONE shopper spent just £49 on a Boots haul that should have cost a whopping £450 – and it’s all thanks to a simple discount trick.

The Boots fan claimed she saved £398.59 at the checkout by taking advantage of the store’s existing sale, plus some reductions of her own that could be applied on top.

The shopper's Boots receipt told her she'd saved almost £400 with her multiple discounts

The shopper posted her major saving and discount trick on Facebook page Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

It managed to rack up over 400 likes and almost 150 users commented underneath.

In the post she revealed that Boots’ annual post-Christmas reductions had helped in scoring such a huge bargain, but being a student meant a separate 10% off as well.

So she stacked the two on top of each other and managed to save hundreds of pounds when it came time to pay.

Boots £10 Tuesday: No 7, Make up Obsessions and Oral-B on offer this week

Every year Boots hosts a major sale to pedal all its remaining seasonal stock, and shoppers quickly dash to the store to snap up all the best bargains.

The sale usually starts in January, but it was delayed last year, and pushed back by a few months this year too.

When it did finally arrive in stores just last week, 70% off all the leftover stock was promised by the beauty and health giant.

But now, shoppers have found some branches offering as much as 90% off, slashing whopping amounts off their bills at the checkout.

Boots confirmed the deal to The Sun, letting us know that customers can get 90% off seasonal gifts right now in-store, including those from brands like No7, Soap & Glory and Ted Baker.

But it’s not available online unfortunately, so you have to head to your closest branch.

The savvy saver managed to get 90% off at their local store in Canterbury, but others had success at their own stores too.

On the same bargain sharing page one said: “I never get bargains like this but the lady in front of me saved £2,500 as she left with six big boxes of stuff.”

While another said: “I got I got £56 worth of goods for £5.60 so it’s already started my Christmas shopping for this year.”

But not everybody had the same luck.

One commented under the original post: “Well done, but they didn’t have much left when I went.”

A second said: “Our local Boots didn’t have one single item on sale…but the next town did.”

The 90% off sale is still on, but you’ll have to be quick if you want to stock up yourself as the products are quickly flying off the shelves.

Keep in mind it’s only a bargain if you were planning on buying something anyway though.

If you splash out just because there’s a sale on you won’t make a saving and you could find yourself going over budget.

Boots also told us that shoppers can only get 90% off whilst stock lasts.

And as it’s old stock, once it’s gone, it’s gone.

It’s also likely to vary by store, and depends on how many remaining seasonal products are left this time of year.

Some beauty fans went wild for Soap & Glory mascara scanning for just 15p at Boots as part of the sale.

But the store is also making a BIG change to its Advantage card loyalty scheme which good news for discount hunters after even more bargains.
