A WOMAN who scooped a life-changing Postcode Lottery prize thanks to her late husband has said she’ll spend the cash in his honour.

Caroline Buist, 65, bagged a whopping £58,823 when her Peterborough postcode was pulled in the latest draw this week.

The care home worker was just one of 14 residents who hit the jackpot in the PE7 2AS area.

Splitting £1million between them, Caroline was lucky enough to take home a lump sum just one year before her retirement.

But the heartbreaking reality behind her win soon struck.

Carol’s husband, who sadly died last year, was originally the one who paid £12-a-month to play.

Despite not being here to spend the winnings, Caroline said she plans to splash the cash on everything the couple planned to do if they ever won the lotto.

She said: “I wish my husband Paul was here to see it. He passed away last year.

“It was him who started the lottery. I think he’s looking down on us today.

“I’m 66 at the end of the year and I’ll be retiring.

“This will mean I can do a lot of the things that me and my husband said we would always do if we won the lottery.”

Caroline, who has two sons and three grandchildren, said the win can also help her support her family.

She added: “I can help my family now, and that’s what my husband would have wanted.”

It comes after a whole neighbourhood won an incredible £11.2million.
