A LUCKY woman, who won a $1 million prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket, revealed how she almost threw her ticket in the bin.

The winner, from St. Louis in Missouri, told Missouri Lottery officials that she did not think her $50 Millionaire Blowout ticket was a winner after she bought it from a 7-Eleven store.

Speaking anonymously, the woman said she had left the winning ticket in a stack of non-winning tickets she had previously scratched in her car.

The ticket remained on the pile for two days before she double checked the non-winning tickets with a petrol station’s lottery scanner.

“I stopped at the gas station to check my ticket, just to make sure I wasn’t throwing away any winners,” she explained.

“I scanned the ticket, and it said I won $1 million, visit the lottery office.”

She scanned the ticket on multiple occasion to check, stunned and in disbelief.

“I couldn’t believe this was real”.

“I thought maybe it was wrong, but it kept saying I was a winner,” she said. “I won $1 million!”

This comes after a couple who scooped a life-changing £3.6 million on the EuroMillions jackpot revealed their bizarre first purchase.

Helen, 58, said: “We have rented all our married life, and with retirement looming didn’t think that would ever change.

“Instead of the usual Chinese takeaway in front of the telly to celebrate my birthday, we bought a whopping detached house with all the mod cons – it’s even got electric gates!”

Lee, 52, hasn’t missed a beat either as he’s swapped in an HGV for his dream car, an Audi RS4 Avant.

But Helen insists it’s not been “all about the big spends” as she revealed her first purchase as a millionaire was in fact “two bags of cat litter”.
