A SELF-CONFESSED “thrifter” has revealed how she bags a McDonald’s meal for less than half price – and you can too.

Big Mac fans can pick up a burger and fries for just £1.99 by filling out a survey on the “Food for Thought” page on the chain’s website.

All you have to do is make a purchase and enter the 12-digit code found near the top of your receipt on to the site.

Once you’ve done this and filled out the survey you will get a five-digit code which you can redeem for the £1.99 offer in any Maccie’s branch.

It means you can buy a single item, like a small drink, and then use the code to bag an extra fries and burger for less than £2.

You don’t have to buy a Big Mac and fries either, you can opt for other combinations such as a Filet-o-Fish and fries or McPlant and fries.

TikTok user caroline.shops shared the hack to her 30,000 followers, revealing how she uses it to get a meal for more than half price.

She explained how she buys just a small Diet Coke for £1.19 and then uses the five digit code to bag a Big Mac and fries for £1.99.

It means she ends up with a meal for £3.18 instead of what would be £6.49 normally.

She explained: “This also applies to Chicken McNuggets and Fillet-o-Fish as well. Use this code or voucher and then go and get the food.

“You then end up with a drink and a burger and fries for £3.18, which is less than half of what it would normally be.

“If you want to get a medium drink rather than a small then you can do that for just 50p extra.”

Remember, you might not always get more than a 50% discount using the hack as it depends on the value of your meal normally.

How else to save money at McDonald’s

It’s not just the £1.99 survey trick that can save you money at McDonald’s – there’s a host of ways to cut costs.

First, you’ll want to choose your trip wisely – menu prices can vary in restaurants just a couple of miles apart.

Previous research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30p cheaper at restaurants that are just two miles apart from each other.

It might not seem like a lot but if you’re a regular it could save you a fair few quid over the year.

Next up, you can bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re signed up to the MyMcDonald’s app.

You just have to make sure you log your date of birth in the app otherwise you could miss out.

What you’ll actually get is usually in line with the McDonald’s Mondays offers, discounts and deals.
