TikToker @emmacaitlinlewis explains how she used the trick on an iPhone.

She starts by exiting WhatsApp and then heading to her iPhone Settings.

She says: “Head into Settings, go to General and then Date and Time and you want to set this to the day before.

“Once you’ve done this it’s really important that you turn on Airplane mode before opening WhatsApp again.”

She then goes back to the WhatsApp chat and holds down the message she wants to delete.

Next, she clicks the Delete option and then the bin symbol before clicking ‘Delete for Everyone’.

The TikToker said: “As you can see I can now delete it for everyone.”

We tried setting an iPhone time and date to a year ago and found that WhatsApp messages could be deleted from months ago.

However, there seems to be a limit as to how many months you can go back.

Bear in mind your iPhone date must definitely be set to a time before the message was sent and Airplane mode must be on when you click delete.

A lot of people in the TikTok video comments agreed that it does work.

However, some users said it didn’t work on their phone or only deleted a message on their side.

Some people complained that it didn’t work on their Android phone.
